Forget the Past, Look for the Future

The world cup is over, we had many positives and many negatives. Lets start with the positives, good midfield. We got new goal scorers. Increase in fan base. And the bad points are sloppy defense, physical conditioning, lack of co-ordination among players. We should be happy with our performance and work towards the future. We have Commonwealth Games coming again plus Asian games in China. Need some youngsters who can take the helm from the ageing players. Its not that we do not require experience of these players. But if the time comes they have to move on.
So, Indian hockey needs to start from scratch. Youngsters are almost conspicuous by their absence in the Indian squad. What we need to do is get rid of the dead wood and then gather a group of talented youngsters from what is available to us and give them exposure at the highest level. Side by side, of course, developing skill and nurturing talent would have to go on.
